A little help, from here.
You bring the memories. Sunward helps you turn them into a personal paper universe. These are the useful things to know along the way.
Make a birthday story
Read our guide to creating a personalized birthday website.
- Choose one to six photographs, add the birthday person’s name, and answer ten questions about them. The uploader answers; the recipient simply opens the surprise.
- Add your message, choose the exact expiry, and optionally set a password. Preview the full story and make any changes before publishing.
- Save the recipient link to share. Keep the separate management credential private so you can edit, revoke, or delete the story later.
A photograph will not upload
Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP files. If your iPhone photo is in HEIC format, export or save a JPEG copy first. Photos are resized in your browser to keep the birthday story light on mobile devices. Large originals or unsupported formats can be rejected; the creator shows the applicable limits before selection.
Try adding the photos one at a time, use a smaller exported copy, and keep the creator open while processing. Check your connection before retrying a failed upload. Do not refresh if you still have unsaved changes.
Keep your management access
The recipient link opens the birthday story. The separate management credential grants editing and deletion controls. They have different jobs: never share management access with the birthday audience. Save it in a password manager or another private place.
If you lose it, Sunward cannot retrieve the original secret. Email Dinesh with the recipient link and context about the story. Do not send a password or management secret. Help with access or removal may require verification of your connection to the content.
Open and play a story
Open the recipient link in a current browser and enter the password if one is required. Use previous and next, the keyboard arrow keys, or horizontal swipes to move between chapters. Pause stops the artwork and automatic progression; switching to another tab also pauses playback. Reduced-motion preferences provide a readable experience with manual navigation.
An unavailable link may have expired, been revoked, or been deleted. Ask the uploader to check its status. A fresh recipient session does not need the uploader’s management credential or a Sunward account.
Post the card to your social story
- Save photo: choose the photograph and crop, check the preview, and download the 1080 × 1920 card. Where supported, you can share the image file directly to another app.
- Copy birthday link: copy the recipient URL. If clipboard access is unavailable, select and copy the displayed link manually.
- Post your story: choose the saved image in Instagram or Snapchat. Add an Instagram Link sticker or Snapchat link attachment and paste the birthday URL yourself.
The downloaded image is not clickable and does not contain an embedded link. Sunward does not publish to your social account or insert a sticker automatically. Posting the link makes the story available to that audience, and they may forward it. Share a password separately if you enabled one.
If an image share is cancelled or unsupported, use the download button. On iPhone, your browser may offer the Files app or a share sheet; save the image to Photos from there if needed.
Contact the person behind Sunward
Contact Dinesh at dineshmadaka007@gmail.com for help, privacy questions, and deletion requests. You can also find Sunward’s creator on Instagram at @dineszz.here (opens a new tab). Please send private requests by email, without including passwords or management credentials.
Dinesh built the website. The uploader made your individual birthday surprise. For a private support or deletion request, email is the best place to include the recipient link, a brief description, and your browser or device if relevant. Avoid attaching more personal data than needed.
